Bidder Pre-Approval FAQ

Why is the auction limited to Pre-approved bidders

How do i get pre-approved

Some auctions are limited to pre-approved bidders to protect the charity and bidders from non-genuine bidding activity. This helps to provide certainty at the end of bidding.

Complete the relevant pre-approval form below and authorise a Holding Deposit.

eBay Bidder Pre-Approval Form

This confirms that you intend on paying for each auction should you be the winning bidder.

Make sure you include a registered eBay UserID as eBay matches the data

After you have submitted the form you will receive an email to let you know your application is being processed.

What information do you collect?

Bid For Good’s proprietary anti-fraud verification system collects personal information you submit on the Bidder Pre-Approval Form only for authenticating and identifying you so we can provide you the services you requested (i.e. to enable you to participate in the bidding process).

The personally identifiable information we collect includes:

  • name

  • phone

  • email address

  • physical address

NOTE:

  • We do not store any financial details.

  • We will refund the deposit following the auction if you are not the winning bidder as long as you do not default on making prompt payment.

  • Bid For Good reserves to right to request additional holding deposits if you seek registration for 2 or more auctions.

What happens at the end of the auction?

Once we have checked and verified the details and deposit a member of the Bid For Good team will add your name to the individual eBay auction listing(s). Each auction is controlled by a separate list. We will send confirmation that you have been added to the eBay listing(s) usually via SMS or email.

If there are problems with the data you have supplied, for example eBay does not recognise the eBay UserID supplied we may also try to reach you by phone.

eBay requires that bidder pre-approval lists are activated and updated manually, not via software. This means there can be a small delay in processing the application. During Melbourne (Vic) business hours the approval process usually takes only a few minutes. Forms submitted overnight and weekends are reviewed and processed every couple of hours. (unless it is less than 5 hours till an auction ends).

Once you have been added to the pre-approved bidder list(s) you are then free to bid whenever you want on the auction.

The deposit is released at the end of the auction if you are not the winning bidder. If you are a winning bidder the deposit is released once we have received cleared funds.

How do I know if an auction is limited to pre-approved bidders?

If an auction is limited to pre-approved bidders, then eBay will include a notification at the top of the eBay listing like this.
